House lockouts
Door shut behind you, a deadbolt thrown by mistake, or a knob that quit. We open it without damage whenever we can, after checking you belong there.
House and car lockouts, rekeys, new locks, car keys, and work for local businesses. We come over the Pali to you, every day from 6 AM to 9 PM.
Pacific Locksmith works all over Kailua as a mobile locksmith. Calls here run the full range: house and car lockouts, rekeys, new locks installed several at a time, car keys and fobs, safes, and hardware for local businesses. There is no shop to drive to. The van carries the key blanks and the programming gear, so most jobs finish in one visit at your door. When you call, we give you an honest arrival window based on where we are and how the Pali is moving, not a number we cannot keep. We work every day from 6 AM to 9 PM, weekends included.

Three in four homes here were built before 1980. If you just bought one, nobody knows how many keys are out there. A rekey makes every old key useless and keeps your hardware.
Front door, back door, garage side door, the slider. We install deadbolts, handlesets, and smart locks, and can key them all alike so one key runs the house.
More than a quarter of homes here are rented. Rekey when a tenant moves out, before the next one gets a key, and you are not trusting the last one to have returned them all.
Storefronts and offices in the town center and along Kailua Road. Rekeys when staff change, master key systems, exit hardware, and keypad entry.
Keys on the seat at the beach, or a fob that went for a swim. We open cars without scratching them, and cut and program keys and fobs at the car for most makes.
Kailua is on the windward side, in the Ko'olau Poko district, about 12 miles northeast of downtown Honolulu over the Nu'uanu Pali.
From town that means the Pali Highway through the tunnels, or the H-3. Both carry commuter traffic over the Ko'olau range, and both can back up.
That is why you get an arrival window from us instead of a promise. Tell us the street and the nearest cross street, or the stall number if you are in a parking lot, and we will tell you straight how it looks.
Kaneohe and Waimanalo are on the same side of the island, and we work there too.
All of Kailua, and the windward towns next door.
The town center and business district along Kailua Road, and Coconut Grove next to it.
The Aikahi neighborhood and the Aikahi Park shopping center at the edge of town.
The Enchanted Lake subdivision, Keolu Hills, and the Enchanted Lake shopping center.
Lanikai and the streets near Kailua Beach, where the salt air is heaviest.
Maunawili, the Olomana subdivision, Pohakupu, and Kailua Heights on the Pali side of town.
Same side of the island. See our Kaneohe page.
Rain, salt, and age, usually all three at once.
The rain gauge at the Kailua fire station averaged about 40 inches a year over its 1959 to 1978 record, double the 20 inches recorded at Honolulu airport, per Western Regional Climate Center records. Trade-wind showers keep door hardware damp for days.
Near the water, add salt. Airborne salt drops off sharply between about 300 and 3,000 feet from the shoreline, according to Simpson Strong-Tie's coastal corrosion guidance, so homes closest to Kailua and Lanikai beaches get the worst of it.
And the hardware is often old. The median home in town was built in 1966, per the Census Bureau's American Community Survey. A key you have to jiggle is usually corrosion, and servicing or rekeying it now costs less than drilling it out after the key snaps. More in our guide to locks in Hawaii's climate.
For a car, yes: for most makes we can cut and program a new key with no original, right at the car. For a house, the faster and usually cheaper answer is to rekey the lock to a new key, which also makes sure any lost key stops working.
Often, yes. A key that drags or has to be jiggled usually means dirt or corrosion in the cylinder, and cleaning and servicing it fixes most of them. If the pins are worn past saving, rekeying or replacing the cylinder is the better fix, and we tell you which before we do anything.
Yes, and check the hardware too. If a key may have been taken, rekey so any copy stops working, and replace a lock or strike plate that was damaged when the door was forced. Call the police first; we can come once they are done.
