Old town, new builds, and dry heat

Ewa Beach is two housing stocks side by side, per Census survey data. In the old town by the shore the median home was built in 1969, and most predate 1980. In Ewa by Gentry it is 1998, and in Ocean Pointe 2009.

Older homes tend to need their original cylinders serviced, rekeyed, or replaced once keys start sticking or snapping. Newer homes have younger hardware but no record of who had keys before you, so a rekey is the usual first job.

Dry heat is the other local factor. The Ewa Plantation weather station averages about 21 inches of rain a year, with August highs near 88 degrees, per Western Regional Climate Center records. Heat is hard on batteries, so a keypad lock or a car fob that starts acting up is often a battery near the end.
